Greenpeace war on Bitcoin unintentionally spawns ‘badass’ new mascot

Greenpeace’s “Skull of Satoshi” artwork highlights their gripes with Bitcoin’s consensus mechanism, but Bitcoin supporters adopted it as a new mascot.

The environmental group Greenpeace's latest attack on BTC is to authorize commissioned works of art to highlight its impact on the climate. In turn, this work of art has been well received by bitcoin lovers, who want to design it as its mascot.

On March 23, the climate law advocacy group collaborated with plastic arts practitioner Benjamin Feng Wang to organize an ongoing "change coding, not climate" fitness campaign to convert Bitcoin's consensus algorithm into POS.

Greenpeace has released her artistic creation-an 11-inch (3.3-meter) skull with a Bitcoin logo and red laser eyes-a rising meme chosen by Bitcoin advocates.

The "chimney" in the skull, made of recycled electronic waste, is said to represent "fossil energy and coal pollution" caused by bitcoin mining and can also be used to authenticate "millions of electronic computers" for online transactions.

When Bitcoin supporters express their admiration for this work of art, Greenpeace marketing diligence has changed unexpectedly, and some have used it as a quasi-mascot design.

Wino Ford Foxley, director of mainstream media strategy at secret miner Compass Mining, called the work of art a "bad guy" and changed her profile picture on Twitter into a skull of a smart person.

Coin Metrics founder Knicks Card said on Twitter on March 24 that the work of art is "a bitcoin work of art with a very metallic color so far."

In addition, others conducted an in-depth analysis of the images selected by Greenpeace, with one Twitter user showing that the skull chimney is like a nuclear closed cooling tower that sends steam.

Greenpeace was launched about a year ago with Charles Larson, founder of Ripple and other climate groups.

It aims to put pressure on Bitcoin real estate developers, miners and government departments, and claims that if 30 "important" entity lines allow this change, they are likely to remove Bitcoin from the work unit certificate.
